The making of a Monster Molding Plane

I came across another cool video and a blog called the Wood and Shop. unknown to me until this morning.  One of the article I came across that peaked my interest contained a video about a woodworker creating a monster plane.

It’s about Frank Klausz is a retired cabinet maker in New Jersey who was challenged by friends in the local woodworking club to create a large single pass molding plane.   I other words a single plane that creates the molding vs using several planes to create the profile, which is the norm.  The problem with planes this large is that they get harder and harder to use as they cut deeper into the wood with each pass.  The video is interesting and after watching it, I will leave the monster plane making to others.  Enjoy.
