Fancy a pre-War Norris of London A1 Plane for $1300 give or take a bob?

The ebay listing shouts ”┬áNorris of London A1 Dovetailed Pre-War Panel Plane – 1913 Adjuster!” with the accompanying text:

“A 13 1/2″ NORRIS A1 DOVETAILED STEEL PANEL PLANE WITH 1913 ADJUSTER. GOOD STEEL BODY AND ROSEWOOD INFILL, NO CRACKS IN TOTE. VERY FINE MOUTH. ORIGINAL 2 1/2″ NORRIS LONDON IRON (APPROX 1” REMAINS) AND NORRIS LONDON BACK IRON. “TN” AND “1” ON BLADE BACK.”

As of this writing going for $1300 give or take a few cents in exchange rate, which is a far cry from the original sale price in the 1928 catalog below (which you will notice is 15yrs after the supposed age of the Adjuster.)

Now some pictures of what all that dosh will buy you in today’s hand plane market.

This is the closest I will ever get to one, especially at anything over a few hundred quid.
